History

Husqvarna actually started right at the beginning of the industrial revolution, in 1689, when the company began to manufacture rifles.

In 1903, they started to make motorcycles, their first motor-powered product.

Chainsaw production began in 1959 when forestry became more popular in Sweden.

In 1968, they began to make power cutting tools. In 1969, they launched the world’s first ergonomic chainsaw, with anti-vibration technology.

During the 1980s they expanded rapidly within the USA. And 2015 was when they started to make their own saw chains.

Products

Husqvarna offers a wide range of chainsaws, so they have you covered whether you want to do a bit of trimming or need to cut down a large tree.

For trimming, products such as the T525 provide low amounts of power. For regular forestry work, the 130 gives you 30cc and, for the professionals, the 550 XP TrioBrake will provide 50 cc.

However, they don’t just make chainsaws. Other Husqvarna products include motorcycles, lawn mowers, sewing machines, and diamond tools. They’re a huge corporation which has added more and more to its product list since its launch in 1689.

About Sweden

Whilst there are thousands of companies who have moved production overseas, to low-wage, low-regulation countries such as China or India,  Husqvarna still makes all their products in Sweden.

Sweden is located in Scandinavia, along with Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland.

The population of Sweden is less than 10 million, but it’s the third-largest country in terms of land mass in the European Union. Just like the United Kingdom, Sweden is technically a kingdom; but the royal family now only hold symbolic power.

The political system of Sweden is very different from the American political structure. Here, we like to pay as little as possible in taxes; but in Sweden, they’re willing to pay more in order to have no-cost access to services like healthcare and post-secondary education.

About Huskvarna

The town where Husqvarna products are, and always have been, made is called Huskvarna. It is now within the city of Jönköping, about 5km from the city centre.

Huskvarna lies on the shore of Lake Vattern, making it easy for its industries to transport their goods from one part of Sweden to another. This makes it the perfect location to set up a town and a factory. If you’re ever in Huskvarna, you should enjoy a visit to the Husqvarna industrial museum.

How the chainsaws are made?

The production of a chainsaw is an incredibly complicated process that can’t really be put into a paragraph. It involves highly skilled factory workers who work alongside state of the art manufacturing technology to always ensure that each chainsaw is of the highest quality.

What sets these saws apart from other brands?

First, they were the first chainsaws to include anti-vibration technology, proving that they’re out-of-the-box thinkers who always strive to provide the best products possible.

The fact that they’ve remained in Sweden goes to show they like to put quality over profits.

Where can you buy Husqvarna chainsaws?

They started in Sweden and took off in America in the 1980s. But today, you can buy their products in over 40 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Norway, etc.

It’s likely that they’ll expand into more countries in the near future.

What will the future bring for Husqvarna?

When it comes to companies like Husqvarna, nobody really knows for sure what the future will bring.

It’s likely that they’ll expand into more countries, and almost certain that they’ll develop new products which will continue to be world firsts.

Conclusion

Husqvarna began right at the start of the industrial revolution. And whilst their product range has increased, as has the number of countries they sell in, one thing that has remained the same is the factory in Sweden where it’s all made.

In 1959 they released their first chainsaw, and continue to make them to this day.

Perhaps in the future, their chainsaw technology will continue to improve; but for now, they’re certainly a brand which you really ought to consider when you’re deciding what chainsaw is the best one for you.

We just purchased a Husqvarna core drill and stand. They are both made in China. It’s a shame, but they too have move some or all of their manufacturing to China. Do your research. Drill model DMS240

Got Stihl and Husqvarna for some time now and I gotta say that Husqvarna beats Stihl with quality in the recent few years.
